In collaboration with Ask Mona, DANAE is delighted to present Belle Époque, L'âge de l'imagination artificielle. A group show curated by Hugo du Plessix, featuring : Sarah Meyohas, aurèce vettier, u2p050, Catherine Ikam & Louis Fléri, Guo Cheng, Albertine Meunier, Patrick Tresset, Sasha Stiles, Minuit, Mehdi Besnainou.
The exhibition Belle Époque, The Age of Artificial Imagination traces the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) in artistic creation since the emergence of Google's Deep Dream project in summer 2015. This selection of works offers a non-exhaustive exploration of the recent history of AI-generated aesthetics, highlighting a potential milestone in the evolution of artificial intelligence, particularly in the field of automated image production.
The works presented illustrate the transformative impact of AI, not only as a tool for solving complex computational problems, but also as a means of pushing back the boundaries of creativity. From early experiments with generative adversarial networks (GANs) by artists such as Sarah Meyohas and Aurèce Vettier, to contemporary uses of text-to-image generators such as DALL-E by Patrick Tresset, Albertine Meunier and Minuit Digital, the exhibition reflects the dynamic dialogue between technological advances and evolutions in the data used to train neural networks.
